2011 Hyundai Equus

The 2011 model year marks the first time the luxury sedan will be available in the United States. The formula for the Equus has essentially stayed the same since it first launched – a big, comfortable luxury sedan at a reasonable price – but, thankfully, its V8 engine now drives the rear wheels instead of the pair at the front.

Stepping up from the Equus Signature to the Equus Ultimate adds a number of rear-seat luxuries, including a “First-class” seat with massaging system, power rear headrests, a rear console refrigerator and a rear console controls with an 8-inch LCD entertainment system. To make sure those in the outside world know you sprung for the up-level model, the Equus Ultimate also sports LED turn signals, LED taillights and 19-inch chrome wheels.

The Equus is class-leading in terms of NVH and its acoustic laminated glass ensures whispers can be heard at 80mph. Throw in a heated and cooled driver’s seat with two massage functions and you may never want to leave the comfort of the Equus’ cabin.

Pricing will be a major factor in the Equus’ success or failure, but we unfortunately don’t have that information at this time. However, our best guess is that the standard Equus model will list from about $55,000, with the Ultimate treatment pushing that price point to about $70,000.
