PSA Peugeot Citro?n has released images of its 2011 Peugeot 508, a large sedan that will make its official debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show this October. The 508 succeeds the outgoing 407 and will also take the place of the top-end 607. It was previewed by Peugeot’s SR1 concept, seen at the Geneva show this past spring.

The 508 is slated to be produced in France for Europe first, and will go elsewhere — including Australia — in mid-2011, followed by production in China. It’s expected to be available in turbodiesel and Hybrid4 versions, although Peugeot did not release specific technical data.

The Peugeot 508 is to feature a start/stop engine system and a Hybrid4 diesel flagship with lithium-ion battery technology. But other than that, under the hood is the same 1.6L petrol turbo that is featured in Citroen and MINI vehicles, a 119 kW (160 bhp / 162 PS) 2.0 HDI and a 177 kW (237 bhp / 240 PS) engine.

The 2011 Peugeot 508 will start selling before the year’s end in Europe, with the UK getting their hands on it, in early 2011.
