Porsche will unveil the 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The most recent 911 is scheduled to go on sale in North America in early 2011.

Power for the 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS comes by way of an upgraded version of the 911 Carrera S’s  3.8-liter flat-6 engine that comes with a standard sport exhaust system and a few mild tweaks to the induction system. The result is 408 horsepower, an increase of 23 over the standard Carrera S but still 27 less than the GT3. Torque peaks at 310 pound-feet — the same as the Carrera S, but is developed 200 rpm lower in the rev range at 4,200 rpm.

The Carrera GTS will be sold with a standard six-speed manual gearbox running the same ratios and 3.44:1 final drive as the Carrera S. However, Porsche expects most buyers will opt for its optional seven-speed PDK double-clutch gearbox providing both manual (via steering-wheel-mounted paddles and/or shift lever) and set-and-forget automatic modes.

Inside, the new Porsche receives a series of upgrades, including a three-spoke sport steering wheel, sport seats and unique black Alcantara trim. A fairly mild upgrade to the standard Carrera, the 2011 Porsche 911 GTS gives the carmaker yet another new 911 to talk about until the fully redesigned model arrives next year.
