Porsche unveiled the third-ever Porsche 911 Speedster at 2010 Paris Auto Show. It is is back in a new limited-to-just-356 units model. marries a slightly more powerful engine than the 911 Carrera S.

The limited-edition, open-top version of the 911 Speedster was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the firm’s in-house individualization operation, Porsche Exclusive. The 2011 Porsche 911 Speedster is planned to be produced in a limited run of just 356, a figure harking back to the original 356 Speedster that went on sale in 1953. The majority of those 356 Speedsters are earmarked for North American sale.

The new Porsche 911 Speedster gets the bread-and-butter 3.8-liter flat six to eke out an extra 23 HP on top of the 911 Carrera S, bringing total power output up to 408 hp (300 kW). That’ll cut a tenth of a second off the 0-to-60 time of the Carrera S and add ten more MPH to the top end. Porsche is proud to say its average consumption of 10.3 litres/100 km, makes the new Speedster no less efficient than the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. The rear-wheel-powered Speedster’s only available with the seven-speed PDK.

The 911 Speedster goes on sale in the United Kingdom in January 2011, priced from £144,100 (about $225,000 USD).
