BAC Mono is single-seat racer car

The BAC Mono is the single central-seat sports car in the world, it is designed by Briggs Automotive Company. So that is a superbly engineered and beautifully built single-seat racer that just happens to be road-legal.

BAC Mono is constructed using high-strength carbon fibre composite around a steel safety cell. The cell is designed to offer maximum safety featuring a FIA compliant steel rollover structure, a side impact structure and a front carbon crashbox. The carbon fiber composite surrounding a FIA-compliant steel safety cell weighs a mere 1,200 pounds.

The BAC Mono is powered by a 2.3 liter, Cosworth-massaged four-cylinder engine, eveloping 280 bhp at 7,700 rpm and 280 Nm (207 lb.ft.) at 6,000 rpm, is coupled with an F-3 spec 6-speed sequential gearbox from Hewland. According to BAC, the Mono is thus able to hit the 60 mph (97 km/h) mark within 2.8 seconds, and the top speed is 170 mph (274 km/h).
