The McLaren MP4-12C is a mid-engined two-seater sports car, which is designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive. The final design was unveiled on 8 September 2009, and it will go on sale sometime in 2011. The price will be at between £125,000 and £175,000 towards to Ferrari 458 and Aston Martin DB9.

McLaren MP4-12C will be the first of an entire range of new McLaren sports cars, the name pays tribute to the legendary 1981 Formula 1 MP4/1. The car seems to land directly from the Formula 1 race circuit, It comes with technologies tested by the Mclaren engineers on the race circuit, but also with a design that makes it not impossible to be noticed on the streets.

Inside is the Carbon MonoCell, The cabin feels snug, a little like a tailored suit, but McLaren’s designers have tried hard to keep things simple and conservative. The 12C MonoCell not only brings dynamic benefits, but also offers fundamental engineering opportunities that form the basis of the car’s unique character. Serious drivers will like it. The seats are firm and comfortable, and the dihedral doors slope up and away from the kerb as they open.

McLaren MP4-12C is equiped with a 3.8-litre 90-degree V8 mounted amidships and producing ‘around 600bhp and 443lb ft’. ‘It delivers the highest horsepower to CO2 ratio of any car on the market today with an internal combustion engines – and that includes petrol and diesel hybrids,’ boasts Antony Sheriff, MD of McLaren Automotive. Expect a CO2 output somewhere just south of 300g/km. The engine is coupled to a McLaren seven speed Seamless Shift dual clutch gearbox (SSG). It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3,5 seconds and can hit a top speed of more than 200mph.
