SAIC Leaf Concept Car

The Chinese third largest car maker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) univeiled the leaf car at Beijing Auto Show.

The concept is named the Leaf but it isn’t related to Nissan’s Leaf electric. SAIC Leaf concept has a roof that’s shaped like a leaf, which it fitted with solar panels that generate and store energy. The leaf structure can move in order to attract the most powerful sunlight. Additional vanes are seen on the Leaf’s wheels. These are designed to turn in the wind, and in doing so, produces electricity. SAIC has partnerships with GM and VW in China. It also owns Nanjing Automotive and has a majority share in Ssangyong.

The Leaf concept derived roof actually serves a useful purpose with it being able to give of O2 (i.e. Oxygen) instead of Co2 as a regular automobile. The leafy roof is also a solar panel which will be able to produce and store electricity, and further more it will be able to move into position to gain the best sun light coverage.

The wheels of the Leaf are very much like the spinners on terrible gang banger cars, they turn with the wind as the car goes forward to develop electricity, giving the Leaf yet another power source. Whilst the Leaf does have some radical ideas for its power source, its highly unlikely that the Leaf will be put into production .
