Chevrolet is planning a new SUV- Chevrolet Aveo SUV . The new SUV will be designed and engineered by GM’s Korean R&D centre, which was responsible for the Cruze and Beat.

Chevrolet Aveo SUV will be a compact crossover based on an extended version of the new Aveo supermini. It will come off at the Paris Motor Show in autumn 2012, and the car will take the fight to Ford’s new Fiesta SUV. The new SUV will feature a selectable front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive along with an option of 6 engines.

The production version will get similar styling to the GPiX concept, and although it will be front-wheel drive as standard, potent range-topping models will be offered with the option of 4WD.

The SUV will also feature Chevy’s new Ecotec turbo petrol engines, plus a 1.6-litre diesel that complies with strict new Euro VI emissions regulations.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

General Motors has announced that 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible will officially debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. And it will be go on sale in 2012.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible will feature the same design language as the coupe. The changes between the coupe include a tower brace under the hood, a transmission reinforcement brace, an underbody tunnel brace, and a set of X and V braces under the body–all aimed at stiffening the chassis to better handle and apply all the power the mighty LSA generates.

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will be powered by LSA 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine as the Coupe version, produces 580 HP and 556 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine will be combined with a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission that uses a 240-mm dual-mass flywheel matched with a 240-mm twin-disc clutch system to provide excellent shift smoothness.

The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible ZL1 will go on sale in late 2012, some months after the early 2012 start for the coupe. The prices will be announced at a later date.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept

General Motors announced the debut of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept in 2009, and it appeared in the forthcoming film Transformers 2 movie as the Autobot Sideswipe. But we knew that there 100% NO plans for this cars production.

It just seemed weird, considering GM’s level of involvement in Transformers, for them not to have a Corvette in the movie. Now, here it is. It’s not the next Corvette, but it is what we wish the next Corvette would look like — it’s the Stingray Corvette Concept, and it’ll play the character of Sideswipe. Frankly, it was gorgeous when we first saw it at GM’s design center and it’s even more gorgeous now.

We’ll have more on the rest of the Autobots revealed here in Chicago shortly, but we kinda figured you’d want to see this silver gleaming slab of beautiful first.

2012 Chevrolet Cobalt Concept

GM unveiled new Chevrolet Cobalt Concept at the Buenos Aires International Auto show. Chevrolet says that this concept is based on the Chevy Cobalt, it is designed by Chevy North America Center, and will go on sale in 2012.

This version Chevrolet Cobalt will go on sale in South America and possibly other emerging markets around the world, This means that the production version of the new Cobalt will probably offer more of it. The new 2012 Chevy Cobalt was designed to satisfy a variety of markets, and to offer plenty of comfort and luggage space for medium to long tips.

Chevrolet Cobalt concept is equiped with double headlights, LED lights punctuate some questionably large, chrome-surrounded lamps. The concept features a panoramic glass roof, which might not make its way into the production model. Cobalt concept also features an interior ambient lighting system, with blue LED strips, that are meant to give a feeling of increased space.

Chevrolet says it will sell the 2012 Cobalt with a range of 1.3-liter and 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engines, and with a choice between manual and automatic transmissions. The 2012 Chevrolet Cobalt will also come with Flex Fuel gasoline engines and with diesel units. A unique woodgrain accent highlights the steering wheel. LED lighting in a soft blue is a welcome touch, as is the in-dash navigation system and twin seven-inch LCD screens in the headrests, which we doubt would make it into production.

Hennesey Performance unveiled the 2011 Camaro Convertible HPE600, Hennessey’s Chevy Camaro is one of the most powerful convertibles on the road today.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible ‘HPE600′ isn’t exactly a new Hennessey product as the American aftermarket company already used it on the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. The result for both cars was pretty much dead on, with both having a modified output of somewhere north of 600 horsepower.

The only changes at the exterior that might get you thinking this is not the stock version, include a new set of 20 inch, double spoke design alloys wrapped win Pirelli tires, carbon fiber side skirts, a carbon front splitter plus two blue stripes on the bonnet. But if you want to have some exterior touches added on the car, Hennessey is offering a number of options to suit your taste.

Interior, Hennessey’s own carbon fiber door sill plates, a blue hood stripes aesthetic package, a KW Variant 1 suspension upgrade, and a set of the company ’s 20” three-piece alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires. The vehicle features a series of upgrade that include a TVS2300 supercharger system, a custom, cold air induction system, stainless steel tube headers and optimised fuel injectors.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible ‘HPE600′ is equiped with a 6.3-liter V8 engine, Hennessey equipped it with a TVS2300 supercharger, together with high-flow fuel injectors, a cold air induction system, a recalibrated ECU, and a sport exhaust system, the whole program gave birth to Hennessey’s new pride and joy, the HPE600. As a result of all the tweaks and additions, the output jumped from 426 horsepower and 420 lb/ft of torque to 602 horsepower and 605 lb/ft of torque. So the 0-60 mph time is only 3.9 seconds, a quarter-mile run of 12 seconds at 118 mph.

As we know the Camaro Convertible will be sold at $56,495.

The first 2012 Chevrolet Impala official images and details had been released. The real upgrade will come with the next-generation Impala due in 2014.

The more exciting news is that the 2012 Chevrolet Impala is now powered by the direct-injected 3.6L DOHC V6 engine, which is going to put out 302 horsepower. That’s a big improvement over the 2011 Impala’s base V6 that only puts out 211 horsepower.

2012 Chevrolet Impala will equiped with a standard six-speed automatic transmission, and gets a solid range of optional feature and upgrades. The exterior refresh is minimal, with mesh grilles the main cue of the 2012 Impala. The refresh is destined to be short-lived, however, as an all-new car is due in 2014.

Utilizing both exterior and interior upgrades, Chevrolet Sonic Z-Spec accessory packs are designed to underline the Sonic model’s youthful and aggressive styling. The exterior is distinguished by a massive rear-deck spoiler, an orange paint scheme, and eighteen-inch multi-spoke BBS wheels. The interior is also defined by the same orange color scheme, as well as new Recaro seats covered in tan leather.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 C6R

The second-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 C6R version is based on the new 2010 Corvette ZR1. It will compete at the 24 hours Le Mans in the GT2 Class and in the American Le Mans series.

Corvette has a long history of production-based endurance racing, making its first appearance at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1956, and its first appearance at Le Mans in 1960. The new Corvette ZR1 C6R includes a new front splitter, an open grill, which forces air into the engine, aero design headlamps, carbon-fiber front fenders, front and rear channels, a carbon fiber roof, carbon-ceramic brake calipers combined with the six four-piston front and rear.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 C6R will be powered by a LS9 V-8 engines, with dry-sump lubrication systems, CNC-ported aluminum cylinder heads, titanium valves, forged steel crankshafts, and plate-honed cylinder bores. So the engine can produce 638 hp, 470 lb.-ft. The top speed is 205mph, the speed hit 60 mph is only 3.5 seconds. Because of the GT racing regulations, the final displacements and power outputs of the two engines vary slightly.

Camaro LT convertible models are offered with a 3.6L direct injection (DI) V-6 that delivers more power through increased efficiency, while maintaining fuel economy and lowering emissions – including a 25-percent drop in cold-start hydrocarbon emissions.It is rated at 312 horsepower (232 kW) and 278 lb.-ft.of torque (370 Nm).Peak fuel economy with the direct injection V-6 is 29 miles per gallon on the highway.

A special-edition Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible will serve as the official pace car of the 2011 Indianapolis 500.Chevrolet and Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials made the announcement at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale classic auto auction, where a bidder will have the opportunity to purchase the first of 50 Indianapolis 500 Festival Committee cars.

Chevrolet has officially unveiled the new 2012 Sonic , the small hatchback and sedan that will be assembled later this year in Michigan and will replace the Aveo in North America.

Chevrolet Sonic models are powered by efficient, power-dense, small-displacement engines, including the Ecotec 1.4L turbo and the Ecotec 1.8L – the same engines used in the new Chevrolet Cruze .Three transmissions are available: a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic with the 1.8L and a six-speed manual with the 1.4L turbo.

The Ecotec 1.4L turbo’s power ratings are estimated at 138 horsepower (103 kW) and 148 lb.-ft.of torque (200 Nm) between 1,850 rpm and 4,900 rpm.The wide rpm range for the maximum torque – a specific trait of turbocharged engines – helps the engine deliver a better driving experience and performance.Premium design elements give the engine world-class smoothness and durability.The naturally aspirated Ecotec 1.8L engine has many of the same features of the Ecotec 1.4L turbo.It is a compact and durable four-cylinder engine designed for low maintenance, low emissions and fuel efficiency.Its two-stage variable intake manifold allows approximately 90 percent of peak torque to be available from 2,400 rpm to 6,500 rpm.It is estimated at 135 horsepower (101 kW), along with 123 lb.-ft.of torque (167 Nm) at 3,800 rpm.

As for the interior, the Sonic’s cabin will feature a Spark -inspired cockpit that comes with a two-tone design and class-leading spacious rear seat.There will also be a remote start, heated front seats, and a sunroof, along with comprehensive safety features that include 10 standard air bags, antilock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, and OnStar with Automatic Crash Response.

The new Sonic’s interior will also boast of a mid-instrument panel surface that’s available in two colors – dark titanium and brick – an automatic shift knob with a “cobra head” design,” a tubular outboard climate outlets protrude from the instrument panel surface, rear seats that fold flat for carrying larger items, and a number of other options, including USB/Bluetooth connectivity.

The Chevrolet Sonic is offered in two body styles: a stylish four-door sedan and a sporty five-door.Each delivers class-leading rear-seat roominess and cargo space.The sedan and five-door models are distinctively different.The five-door carries a tight, two-box shape with aggressive, diving feature lines, while the sedan’s “notchback” profile has a more upscale and mature presence.At first glance, the five-door model looks like a three-door hatch because the rear door handles are discreetly located in the “C”-pillar area.The rear of the five-door continues with unconventional details, including exposed, motorcycle-inspired rear taillamps.Details that reinforce Chevrolet Sonic’s quality and attention to detail include chrome grille surrounds and matte black honeycomb grille inserts on all models, while a range of large wheel sizes, including 17-inch alloy wheels, reinforces its sporty demeanor.

The Irmscher i42 Camaro is based on the Camaro SS is equipped with a 6.2L V8 but receive a new supercharger and a new custom exhaust system that takes the power output of this car to 509 HP!This will make the Camaro i42 to sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 275 km / hour, more than the standard car.

Camaro I42 also comes with alloy rims black and silver design 22-inch.Since this Camaro is faster than the standard SS, engineers from Irmscher also installed a high performance braking system with 380 mm front discs with 6 piston calipers and 355 mm rear discs with 4 piston calipers for extra stopping power and an adjustable sports suspension for better handling!

In terms of styling, the Irmscher i42 Chevrolet Camaro received a new set of 22″ alloys finished in black and silver, a set of black racing stripes and “Since 68″ logos.

Prices in Germany start at €49,000 ($65,000), which includes the standard Camaro SS.

Chevrolet has introduced the a new Synergy at SEMA 2010. Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Special Edition hits with consumers that Chevrolet has decided to offer it as a limited edition model.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Special Edition was designed with new approaches on accessory parts and customization, the show car was exhibited to showcase the model to be produced in the first half of 2011. but unlike the majority of the wheeled hardware on display, this one is for (relative) mass consumption. The 2011 Camaro Synergy Series will be available to retail customers in the first half of 2011.

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Series contains a mix of exterior and interior accessories, based on the look of the Camaro Chroma shown at last year’s SEMA show. the production model gets grey rally stripes that run the length of the car, but it comes with 19-inch silver-painted alloy wheels rather than the 21-inch black wheels previewed on the show car. Including combinations not available on any other production model, including an exclusive gray interior with red accent stitching throughout.

The Camaro Synergy Special Edition is based on the Camaro 1LT and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, but only with the base 304-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. The Camaro SS’ V8 engine will not be available with the unique Synergy Green color.

A range of Hurst and Chevrolet accessories, from the shifters to the floor mats, are also available, varying depending on the engine/transmission combo chosen. Chevrolet has released new information about the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco fuel economy model. It goes on sale in January for $18,895.

To get these segment-leading figures, engineers gaves the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco an aerodynamic body kit (which consists of a revised grille, a modified front fascia, a rear spoiler, and underbody panels), a reduced ride height, thinner sheet metal, and lightweight 17 -inch wheels with low-rolling resistance Goodyear tires. Thanks to the latter tweaks, the Eco weighs 3,009 pounds (1,365 kg) instead of 3,223 pounds (1,462 kg).

This sedan will return 28 mpg in the city and up to 42 mpg on the highway when equipped with a manual transmission. Cruze Eco will deliver estimated 0-60 mph performance of about 10 seconds with the manual transmission and 9 seconds with the six-speed automatic–very respectable numbers for an economy car.

Chevrolet has introduced the smallest member of the Chevy family-Chevrolet Spark Z-Spec Concept at the 2010 SEMA Show, it is a five-door hatch set for launch in the US, this Spark concept is difficult to picture on American roads because of its town -car ributes.

The Spark Z-Spec Concept design is projected to magnify the sporty appearance, providing stance and driving experience of a racing-inspired ground effects kit, rear spoiler, larger wheels and more. The Spark Z-Spec concept incorporates a blend of Chevrolet-designed exterior and interior enhancements, and wheels by BBS.

Chevrolet Spark Z-Spec Concept demonstrates a cohesive design with a family of factory-engineered accessories and the best of the aftermarket under a single theme. exterior features very few mods, yet they are simple and effective. The first thing that strikes you is the very loud Tangerine Metallic Orange paint work that’s sure to get you noticed.

The interior trim components LCP Tangerine metallic-painted with a die-cut graphics doors Spec-Z-inspired, leather-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel with Z-Spec badge, leather trimmed Recaro racing-inspired front seats , Z-Spec Custom embroidery front and rear floor mats.

Adding to quality feel is a custom-milled billet gear knob and matching floor mats complete with the Z-Spec logo. It’s a pity none of the above will actually make the Spark go any faster as the 0-60 in the little run takes around a day.

Chevrolet unveiled Corvette Z06x Track Car Concept at 2010 SEMA motor show. Z06X track car was created by Chevrolet teamed with American LeMans Series Pratt and Miller. It is a production of Corvette can be easily transformed into an exceptional, full-on track ride.

The Corvette Z06x Track Car Concept starts as a Corvette Z06 with the 1LZ package, the Z07 Performance Package and the CFZ Carbon Fiber Package. Sounds like a perfect showroom selection from your local Chevy dealer. It goes a few steps further than that dealership darling however.

Corvette Z06x Track Car gets some full competition mods including an adjustable carbon fiber rear wing, a polycarbonate rear window, roll cage, racing seat and safety harness, racing wheels, suspension tweaks that include coil-over struts with fully adjustable camber plates, a racing-spec cooling system and more. It does lose a few things in the process, however, like the radio, carpeting and sound-deadening material.

Corvette Z06x Track Car is equiped with a LS7 7.0L V-8 engine, which powers to the ground via a 6-speed manual gearbox, plus the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06X Track Car received a custom air intake system, a high capacity radiator and cooling system, adjustable stabilizer bars and also and adjustable coilover suspension.

GM has released the first images of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible on it’s Facebook page. 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible looks basically the same as the old model.

GM will probably offer the same units as on the coupe. 2012 Camaro Convertible has been eagerly anticipated since the concept car was shown way back at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. Now, it’s confirmed for start of production during the first quarter of next year.

2012 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will be powered by a choice between a 312 hp 3.6-liter V6 and a 6.2-liter v8 with either 400 hp or 426 hp. including fuel-saving Active Fuel Management on automatic-equipped combination and a six-speed manual transmission.

2011 Chevrolet Orlando

General Motors will unveil the production-ready 2011 Chevrolet Orlando crossover this September at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

Buyers will have their choice of three different engines, including a 141-horsepower, 1.8-liter gasoline I-4, or a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel I-4 offered in both 131- and 163-horsepower forms.Transmissions choices will likely include six-speed automatic and manual options.

2011 Chevrolet Orlando will be available in four trim levels.GM has yet to release photos of the production-spec interior.

The 2011 Chevrolet Orlando price was not announced, but the the company did say the new MPV will go on sale next year, with production scheduled to start in October 2010.

It’s a modest refresh, with a new front end design, cabin upgrades and new engines and transmissions.Chevrolet has facelifted the Captiva SUV and will show the car in public for the first time at the 2010 Paris motor show as one of four world debuts.

The Captiva comes with front- or four-wheel drive.Three new GM engines are available with manual or six-speed auto transmissions. Choose from a 2.4-litre petrol or a 2.2-litre diesel in two states of tune, mustering 161bhp or 182bhp; the petrol output falls squarely between the two diesels, at 169bhp.

The interior of the Captiva is also upgraded, with new seat fabrics, ice-blue back lighting and a more wraparound fascia to delineate between passenger and driver zones.

The equipment list of the 2011 Chevrolet Captiva will include a new audio system with Aux-in, USB-port and Bluetooth connectivity.standard with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS) and Braking Assist System (BAS).

The 2011 Chevrolet Captiva price list will be announced at a later date.

Chevrolet Cruze EV

GM official has announced it will produce a fleet of Chevrolet Cruze EVs for testing in South Korea in this year. Even though the Chevrolet is not sold in Korea, GM is hoping to demonstrate the vehicles capabilities and create more awareness in the market whilst also promoting the company in the fast-growing Korean industry.

The Chevrolet Cruze EVs will be equiped with 31kWh batteries wired to 150kW motors. General Motors say the cars are capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds, which is as fast as a manual Mazda6 petrol sedan. Performance will also be backed by a top speed of 165km/h. Range is said to be around 160km for the EV which can then be fully recharged in 8-10 hours through the use of a standard 220 volt socket.

The project is a joint venture between GM Daewoo and LG Chem , the guys who made the batteries and also LG Electronics – the team behind the electric motor development. It’s the second such project to be made by the trio behind the Chevrolet Volt.

2012 Chevrolet Aveo

General Motors is hoping to make a fresh start in the small car segment next year with an all-new made-in-America 20120Chevrolet Aveo.Unlike the current South Korean-built Aveo, the 2012 model will be produced at GM’s Lake Orion, MI assembly plant north of Detroit. It goes on sale in summer 2011.

The 2012 Chevrolet Aveo will be available in both five-door hatchback and four-door sedan body styles just like the current model. Buyers in Europe will have the choice of four gasoline engines ranging from 1.2 to 1.6-liters with maximum output of 115 horsepower along with two 1.3-liter diesels.

GM has not announced which engines will be installed in Michigan built Aveos but the 1.6-liter is almost a sure thing allowing it to compete with the Ford Fiesta and Honda Fit. Since the 100 hp 1.4-liter will be built in the nearby Flint engine plant for use in the Chevrolet Volt, it may also be offered as the base engine.

A production version of the Aveo RS with the same 138 hp turbocharged 1.4-liter found in the larger is also a distinct possibility after the base models launch.

2011 Chevrolet Malibu is the best midsize-sedan. It will return little changed from the 2010 Malibu, and it is a front-wheel-drive four-door that offers four- and six-cylinder engines.

The 2011 Chevrolet Malibu is offered in three well-equipped trim levels: LS, LT and LTZ – all with a standard, fuel-efficient, four-cylinder 2.4L Ecotec engine and six-speed transmission that deliver 33 mpg highway. A 252-horsepower 3.6L V-6 is available on 2LT and LTZ models. Chevrolet expects that about 60 percent of customers will choose either the 1LT or 2LT model.

Also standard on all Malibu models are four-wheel anti-lock brakes; StabiliTrak electronic stability control; AM/FM stereo with CD player and MP3 playback; XM Satellite Radio; OnStar 9.0 with six months of Directions and Connections service and Turn-by-Turn Navigation; power height driver seat adjuster with power lumbar; Remote Keyless Entry and cruise control. A compact spare tire and jack assembly are available on all models.

On LS models, custom cloth front bucket seats are standard, along with 17-inch fascia spoke wheels with painted sterling silver trim. Bluetooth connectivity and carpeted front and rear floor mats are available. Malibu 1LT adds steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls; power body-color outside mirrors; 17-inch bright finish aluminum wheels, bright exterior accents and carpeted front and rear floor mats. Six-way power driver seat adjuster; remote vehicle start; Bluetooth connectivity; and an interface package including uplevel AM/FM stereo with USB port and CD player and 110V AC rear power center are available.

Malibu 2LT models add 17-inch Chrome Tech aluminum wheels, UltraLux trim seats with heated six-way power driver and front passenger seat; remote vehicle starter system; leather-wrapped steering wheel. Bluetooth connectivity for phone; and chrome exhaust tip. A premium floor and trunk mat package; interface package; premium eight-speaker Bose audio system and power sunroof are available. When the V-6 package is selected on the 2LT model, 18-inch Chrome Tech aluminum wheels are included.

The premium Malibu LTZ model adds front heated leather-appointed seats with eight-way power driver seat and six-way power passenger seat; AM/FM stereo with USB port and MP3 playback; eight-speaker Bose premium audio system; automatic climate control; premium carpeted front and rear floor mats; power, heated body-color outside mirrors; fog lamps, 18-inch, 10-spoke bright aluminum wheels. A power sunroof and V-6 package are both optional.

Malibu’s 169-horsepower (126 kW) four-cylinder 2.4L Ecotec engine is partnered with a 6T40 six-speed transmission to deliver a great balance of performance and fuel efficiency. Malibu was the first midsize sedan to offer a standard four-cylinder/six-speed automatic transmission combination. EPA-estimated fuel economy for this DOHC powertrain with variable valve timing is 22 mpg in the city and an impressive 33 on the highway.

If more power is desired, Malibu 2LT and LTZ are available with the 3.6L V-6 VVT – a sophisticated, all-aluminum DOHC engine that uses variable valve technology to produce 252 horsepower (188 kW)* while delivering EPA-estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg city and 26 mpg in highway driving. It, too, is mated with a Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission.

The Malibu six-speed transmissions enable a strong balance between performance and fuel efficiency, with the six forward gears offering optimized performance at all rpm levels, as well as reduced rpm at highway cruising speeds. Lower rpm can enhance fuel economy and reduce cabin noise. The six-speed transmissions also feature TAPshift, which enables the driver to shift manually through the gears.

C3R Corvette Stingray Retro Design

This car in the photo may be the next Corvette, It’s worked wonders for the current crop of remade pony cars, with Chevy’s own Camaro being a prime example. It is C3R, and only a computer-generated concept at the moment.

The design includes the ‘69 Stingray’s razor-sharp, chrome-tipped nose, slatted air intakes and distinct Coke-bottle silhouette. Cyrulewski says that the car is only four inches longer than the production ZR-1, and that it won’t have pop-up headlights like its inspiration does. It is a Corvette staple until the latest C6.

If crowd reaction to the finished car is favorable, he will consider a limited production body kit. It would naturally be offered with a 427 (7.0 liter) V8 engine and side exhausts, like the original ‘69 Stingray.

The 2011 Chevrolet Volt is the first plug-in gas/electric vehicle of GM. 2011 Chevrolet Volt is a four-passenger, four-door sedan. GM official is scheduled to go into production in late 2010. The Price has not been finalized, The most recent estimate places the price at $40,000, with a $7,500 federal tax rebate available after that price.

It is different from Chevrolet Volt concept, The Volt concept was an immediate hit, but The 2011 Chevrolet Volt is GM’s promise to actually build the futuristic range extending electric car. It will base on GM’s E-Flex platform. The GM E-Flex design team also raised the rear window and deck line to minimize wind turbulence and resulting drag as the air flows over the car. The Volt’s roof and rear hatch incorporate a large expanse of glass for a very open feel.

2010 Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in electric car, it has a 40 mile zero-emission range on all-electric operation. The advanced 16 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is depleted, the Volt uses a small internal combustion engine-generator as a range extender to add 300 more miles to the Volt’s total driving range. Chevrolet claims a range of 40 miles solely on a fully charged battery and more than 600 miles when the gasoline engine is used. At this point, it is not known what the gas motor will be, but expect it to be a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that will also be capable of running on E85 ethanol-blended fuel. Available safety features likely will include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. GM’s latest figures peg the Volt’s 0-60 mph performance time in the 8 to 9 second range, with a top speed of 100 mph. The electric drive unit will deliver 111 kW of power that translates to 150 horsepower, and importantly an impressive 370 lbs-ft of torque. Since electric motors can deliver maximum torque from 0 rpm, overall performance should be quite good.

The interior is both sporty and futuristic, with a driver-configurable liquid crystal instrument display and a seven-inch touch screen information display as standard equipment. Bluetooth phone and music streaming will also be standard equipment, with an optional GPS navigation system offering hard drive storage for maps and digital music.
