Citroen Metropolis concept is a big luxury saloon, designed by the the company’s Shanghai styling center unveiled at the Shanghai Expo recently.

The PSA Group’s Shanghai design studio designed Citroen Metropolis concept inspired by the Hypnos concept. It is built on a modified version of of the PSA Group’s Platform 3, used on cars such as the Citroen C6 and Peugeot 407. The length is 5.3-metre, 2m in width and 1.4m in height. Both Peugeot and Citroën build Platform 3 cars in China in a joint venture with local manufacturer Dongfeng Auto.

The same upright intakes ahead of the front wheels and even near-identical door mirrors. The complex turbine-style wheels are 21-inchers, with 265/35 tyres.

The Citroen Metropolis is powered by a hybrid drivetrain 2.0-liter V6 engine, output is 272bhp and 277lb ft . an electric motor that develops from 55bhp to 95bhp. The concept has a CO2 emission of just 70 g/km. the two are capable of increasing the combined output to 460bhp and 317lb ft. The transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, with four-wheel drive.

Citroen Lacoste Concept is the all-new design by Citroen. It has been developed in collaboration, which has the high-end apparel company Lacoste and features variety of details inspired by different products of the brand.

Citroen Lacoste Concept benefits from neat, boxy styling with compact dimensions, The Citroen Lacoste concept measures 3.45m in length, 1.80m in width and 1.52m in height and has a 2.30m wheelbase. Further key details include: no hard-top roof, no front doors, specially-designed sports storage areas, as well as innovative materials. The car can also be fitted with specially designed sports equipment, including tennis racquets, golf clubs, skis, a surfboard or a bike, with owners deciding on the theme of their weekends.

Inside, the car spotlights a unique display blended in the fascia strip on the dashboard, which shows driving information such as speed, car details and directional indicators.

2010 Citroen Survolt Art Car

Designed by Francoise Nielly, the Survolt is a riot of colours, with pink, yellow and green spolodges dominating its nose.Citroën has unveiled a new ‘Art Car’ version of its Survolt electric sports car concept.

Unlike Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst, who are tremendous artists in their ow regard, Nielly’s work encompasses the creativity and incandescent colors found in the style of art cars, leaving the task of turning the Survolt into a Nielly masterpiece as a beautifully simple one.

It comes with a tubular chassis, a flat underside with an extractor, and full carbon bodywork.3.85m long, 1.87.m wide, and 1.2m high and weighs in at just 1,150 kg.

The Survolt is powered solely by electricity and can produce a 0-60 mph time of just a shade under five seconds with a top speed of 162 mph.

The Citroen Survolt Art Car is on display at the showcase C_42 showroom on Paris’s Champs-Elysees, alongside the new C4, DS3 Racing and DS4.

2011 Citroen DS3 R3

In addition to Citroen Racing’s official participation in WRC, where it has won five FIA World Championship Constructors’ titles, Citroen Racing has always offered products designed for customers. The champion team has now furthered this rich tradition with Citroen DS3 R3, a model set to make its rallying debut at the end of 2010.Versatile, high performance and yet affordably-priced, Citroen DS3 R3 is set to become the new leader in its category.

Under the bonnet lies a four-cylinder 1.6-litre THP (high pressure turbo) engine, which has been developed using the PSA production engine. Specific racing parts (air box, camshaft, pistons, connecting rods, exhaust and turbo systems, electronic unit, etc.) have been deployed to boost the car’s power to 210bhp. In addition to its overall power, special attention has been given to increasing the engine’s torque to improve traction, one of the key factors in delivering efficient driving performance. With 350Nm, the Citroen DS3 R3 engine offers unrivalled flexibility on the road.

The standard monocoque chassis is lighter because it does not have the supports used on the production model.It has been re-welded and fitted with a multi-point roll cage made of over 45 metres of steel tubing. The industrially designed roll cage is pre-assembled outside the car, which means the welding is of a higher quality. Various details of the chassis design, such as the harness cross-member and the door crossbars, help to improve safety for the driver pairing. The monocoque chassis is delivered with all the brackets and mountings required to assemble the car, which reduces the construction time and cost.

For the first time ever, Citroen Racing has produced a customer-racing product fitted with a turbocharged engine. The experience acquired by the brand in WRC for almost ten years has been put to good use in its design. The 1.6-litre THP (high pressure turbo) engine is very closely related to the production model used throughout the PSA Group. Fitted with a regulation-compliant 29mm turbo flange, it develops 210bhp of power and generates a torque of 350Nm (with commercially available fuel). This second value improves traction and delivers excellent versatility at all engine speeds.

Several drivers took part in the tests.All of the drivers agreed that the car was easy to drive and highlighted three strengths: the torque of the 1.6-litre engine, the semi-automatic gearbox and the suspension. Citroen DS3 R3 offers impressive performance levels and looks set to become the new leader in its category in rallying.

2011 Citroen C4

The first details of the new Citroen C4 has been released.Designed to exceed the highest expectations, the New Citroen C4 boasts a real positive energy – with exceptional levels of quality, style,interior space and occupant comfort, as well as responsive handling and impressive environmenta l credentials.

New Citroen C4 features compact exterior dimensions and generous internal volumes that make it spacious and thoroughly versatile. At just 4.33m long, 1.79m wide and 1.49m high, New Citroen C4 is just 5cm longer, 2cm wider and 3cm taller than the current model. The 408-litre boot is the biggest in its class, with practical square dimensions and a lower sill that makes loading even easier.

Performance wise, the New C4 benefits from new micro-hybrid e-HDi powertrains with Stop & Start systems that help the vehicle deliver CO2 emissions of 109 g/km at launch and 99 g/km on future variants. These figures will also be achieved thanks to the Michelin Energy Saver tires.

Technologies fitted on the new C4 include the existing EGS (Electronic Gearbox System), hill start assist, automatic electric parking brake, Lane Departure Warning System and Xenon dual-function directional headlamps, as well as a new blind-spot monitoring system, a cornering light function, cruise control and speed-limiter with road speed memory settings, and eTouch.

According to Citroen, the New C4 will be produced at the Mulhouse PSA Peugeot Citroen plant in France and will premiere at the Paris Motor Show this September, where the manufacturer will reveal further details.

Citroen has officially unveiled the SURVOLT Concept at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Citroen took the essence of the Citroen’s REVOLTE concept and make the SURVOLT sportier.

With its compact dimensions, length of 3.85 meters, 1.87 meters wide and 1.20 meters high, re-appropriating Survolt Citroen concept sports car styling cues to a completely new, revolutionary concept. As the rebellion Survolt Concept Car is powered by electricity finished with a glass set between chrome roll bar instead.

Citroen Survolt Concept’s cockpit is designed like a floating cell, a glass setting held between chrome-finished roll bars like some magnificent piece of jewellery. The leitmotiv with Citroen Survolt Concept is to transgress the conventions of the luxury world and combine them elegantly with those of the sporting world.

The cabin was imagined as a cross between two worlds that by their essence are opposed. This union begets an organic universe, both flowing and technical, from which the driver’s station springs forth. The interior as a whole was designed to bring the two occupants comfort and refinement, triggering singular pleasure and an outstanding experience.The car’s generous glazed area brings light and a sensation of space, light years from that offered by today’s sports cars.

Citroen DS4 is based on the C3 supermini, the DS4 features a more extravagantly designed exterior than the C4 which underpins it, and features a 5-door configuration . It delivers on the style promised by the DS High Rider concept seen.

Citroen DS4 is designed to be a high-riding crossover, the measures is 4.27 metres long, 1.81 metres wide and 1.53 metres high, making it shorter, wider and 10cm taller than the regular C4 and a little bigger than the MINI Countryman.

Citroen DS4’s cabin exudes power, dynamism and refinement. The driving position is enveloping, with chrome-surround dials focused directly towards the driver’s eye-line. The characterful, sculptured dashboard also uses high quality materials for a superior tactile feel.

Citroen DS4’s cabin is dominated by the large panoramic windscreen that extends backwards into the roofline. Offering up to 45° of upward vision, the panoramic glazed area combines with Citroen DS4’s slightly raised stance, to provide optimised visibility for the driver, with a bright yet intimate, airy cabin environment for passengers. DS4 is available with a choice of five leather combinations, including two-tone options. Range-topping models are also equipped with high quality leather on the dashboard and door panels – complete with a ‘Bracelet’ design on the seats, evoking the links of a watch strap.

For an added touch of luxury, there is chrome detailing on the air vent surrounds, instrument cluster, gear lever and parts of the central console. Aluminium pedals, embossed leather door handles and ambient lighting are further evidence of Citroen DS4’s attention to premium detail.

The Citroen DS4 will comes available with the three petrol engines and two diesels. The petrol options are a 120 HP 1.6-litre VTi, a 155 HP 1.6-litre THP, and a 200 HP 1.6-litre THP. The two diesels are 3-HDI units with outputs rated at 110 and 160 HP. The Citroen DS4 will be equipped with a Stop & Start system, a second-generation reversible alternator and an e-booster function. Citroen Metropolis is due to be unveiled next month at the Shanghai Motor Show, which follows only weeks after the Beijing expo where BMW is set to debut its long-wheelbase 5 Series, Audi the new A8 L and Volkswagen the new Phaeton. But at 5.3 meters, the Metropolis is bigger than any of them.

The Citroen Metropolis Concept is powered by an electric/gasoline engine combination. The 2.0-liter, 272-horsepower V6 gasoline engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch electronic transmission. The electric motor makes a maximum of 95 hp and can operate the Metropolis on its own at low speeds in town. The Metropolis also has a four-wheel-drive mode, an active spoiler, Citroen’s Hydractive suspension, and, Citroen boasts, CO2 emissions of 70 g/km.

The Citroen GQ Concept is an ultimate gentleman’s drive, which is the first time a British magazine has collaborated with a car company in this way. It was just debuted at the Geneva Auto Show.

Responding to a brief by GQ’s editor, Dylan Jones, Citroën’s team, Citroen GQ Concept features a two-tone paint, hues of fuchsia and charcoal grey, rounded rear, strong body contours and sleek concave rear windscreen – a signature Citroen design. It is 3.85 m long, 1.87 m wide and 1.20 m high and is driven by an electric motor but power output and any other sort of technical details are not available. The cabin is accessed by rear coach doors and reveals a spacious, comfortable and futuristic cabin. Completing the car’s bespoke styling, the interior detailing and upholstery selections were provided by Patrick Grant, the Creative Director of prestigious Savile Row tailors, E.Tautz.

The Citroen GQ Concept is equiped with a 1.6-liter THP direct-injected petrol engine, which is connected to an electric motor, thus completing a hybrid powetrain specifically implemented for improved performance and reduced emissions. Citroen 2020 Dakar Rally Concept

This is the Citroen 2020 Dakar Rally concept, which is designed by Chu Hyung Kwon. It is an indestructible car, the designer make the death-defying even moreso that, this design brings the structure to the skin.

This Citroen 2020 Dakar Rally Concept have more technology at par with that of F1 racing. The core of the car will still be the strongest, while the outer extremities (the structural surface) will be made of materials with relative flexibility. A main feature of the concept appears to be elasticity; also, I’m totally in favor of elasticity, the more, the better. But that’s beside the point. The concept uses elasticity for safety and to some point, for stability.

An elastic capsule surrounds the driver and works to reduce/ prevent injuries in event of a collision. Elastic working at the concept’s rear helps it to get back on its wheels if it is ever knocked off upside down. The wheels are a special arrangement, each with a number of sections. In case of a puncture or damage, only the said section needs to be removed, rather than having to deal with the entire wheel. Shock resistance. With modern advances such as the following, even the most severe of impacts will be dissipated: AeroGel, Carbon/Kevlar composite, and liquid metal. along with the formentioned simple self-righting system and the ability to climb right up the side of a pit make this Structural Skin car quite the formidable foe.

Citroen Eco-Luxury is a zero emission concept electric vehicle, which is design by by Ankit Prashar. It is designed to be base on innovative eco technologies, with smart materials.

The Citroen Eco-Luxury concept is all-electric with a lithium-ion battery powering the in-wheel electric motors. A fuel cell works as a range extender and charges the batteries when needed. The lightweight green materials along with a unique power-train. The batteries have an extended range, thanks to an on-board fuel cell component which charges the batteries when the charge falls below a certain level.

The exterior of the car provides a fresh Citroen design language. The car has a unique shoulder line which takes its inspiration from the wing-structure of a bat, while the front-end design is inspired by the double-chevron logo and gives a new meaning to the brand identity.

The interior of the car offers a unique 1+2 seating layout which ensures maximum individual space to the rear passengers. This enables the vehicle to have a flat floor bed on the rear which further maximizes the interior space. The textured glass-roof, inspired by the work of the French architect Jean Nouvel, filters the sunlight entering the interior and forms a unique pattern which gives the impression of the sun rays passing through a bunch of trees.

Citroen GT Concept: a surper sport car

Citroen GT, or GTbyCITRO concept is a two-seat surper sports car. it was developed as part of the promotion for the 5th title in the long-running Playstation game and will feature as an optional model in it.

Citroen GT is almost five metres long, the GT concept is a full race car interior, 21in aluminum wheels, gullwing doors, an adjustable spoiler, and a mid-engine design. While the show car is purely a design study and has no working internals, the version in the game will feature an electric drivetrain powered by a hydrogen fuel cell.

The body features a muscular look with a large wraparound windscreen, blue LED head-lights, and slim carbon-fibre side mirrors. Inside, there are two padded racing seats finished in black leather and fitted with four point harnesses. The cabin has also been accented with copper and steel highlights. For the driver there is a red LED head-up display and white backlit instrument panel.

The amazing GTbyCitroën is the first ever car to be specifically designed to bring the virtual and real worlds together. The car makes its global premiere at the Paris Motor Show where visitors can actually drive the car in a true to life simulator on the Citroën stand.

GTbyCitroën, a joint venture between Citroën and the makers of Gran Turismo, was created for the eagerly anticipated 5th game in the multi-million selling Playstation series.

At almost five metres long, GTbyCitroën packs the latest hi-tech racing equipment into an exaggerated sporty frame. Planted on 21-inch, diamond-effect, aluminium wheels, the car’s gullwing doors, over-sized rear end with mobile spoiler, gaping air intakes and flat underside exude the qualities of an accomplished racer.

With chrome chevrons on the smooth, aerodynamic, front end asserting the car’s Citroën identity, the GTbyCitroën is bursting with styling cues typical of the Company’s creative flair. The sharp lines and sculpted body are emphasised by the white-to-grey flared paint work which gives the car a forceful look and an impression of speed – even when it’s standing still.

The sleekly muscled racer sports a large wraparound windscreen adding to the impact of the car’s size and dynamic appearance. Penetrating blue LED headlamps and slim-line carbon fibre rear view mirrors – which appear to be suspended in mid-air – add to GTbyCitroën’s futuristic racing style.

Premium materials used throughout GTbyCitroën’s hi-tech interior reflect the car’s distinguished and refined personality. In contrast to its light body work, the cabin features a darker, more brooding colour scheme with two padded racing seats finished in black leather and fitted with four point harnesses. The dark leather, along with copper and steel touches inside the cabin and a low-slung driving position, create an opulent and powerful racing environment. Important on-board data is displayed via a red LED head-up display, allowing drivers to maintain focus on the track.

In the game, the GTbyCitroën showcases Citroën’s dedication to the environment with an electric drive train powered by a fuel cell, totally eliminating pollutant emissions.

Citroen C-Cactus concept is not EV status. It is a new hybrid concept car, and it won an award for Most Beautiful Car In Show at Frankfurt.

Citroen C-Cactus concept is 4.2 metres long and 1.8 meters wide with a wide range of equipment including air conditioning with automatic temperature control, a high-quality audio system, a panoramic glass sunroof, cruise control and a speed limiter.

Inside, It’s the lack of a dashboard. The dashboard controls are instead mounted onto the center console or steering wheel hub, which results in a significant reduction in weight and costs.

Citroen C-Cactus concept is equiped with a hybrid Diesel engine, there is a lot more to the Cactus than meets the eye. Firstly the fuel economy, weighing just 1,306 kg, the C-Cactus uses an incredibly low 3.4 litres of fuel per 100 km with a CO2 emission of 78 g/km, beating the Toyota Prius on both accounts. With a top speed of 70 mph and a range of 100 miles, there is nothing special about the Cactus’s EV qualifications. It’s not the fact that the Cactus could also come as a hybrid model either.

C-CACTUS – THE GREEN CONCEPT CAR WITH SHARP LOOKS

Making its world debut at Frankfurt, the C-Cactus is an imaginative and ingenious concept eco-friendly concept car brimming with clever thinking and dramatic design, which demonstrates how an extremely environmentally-sensitive design is feasible for a similar price to a conventional car.

It’s radical design is centered on essential values abandonning features that are not essential to comfort and focus instead on technology, styling and equipment that are positive, ecological and valued by users. The Marque’s ambitious aim is to market an ecological hatchback with cheerful, attractive styling, equipped with a hybrid HDi drivetrain and sold at the same price as an entry-level C4.

Low on consumption, like the cactus plant, the diesel hybrid model returns over 80 mpg on the combined cycle helped by an innovative approach to reducing weight and impact on the environment by drastically cutting the number of components used – including even doing away with a conventional dashboard and bonnet.

C-Cactus has a unique personality and style yet the focus was very much on simplicity. The front bumper section, which includes the headlamps and trademark Citroën chevrons, also makes up the lower part of the rear tailgate. The design of the car’s front end consists of just two parts: the fixed bonnet comprising the front wings and a flap giving access to the vehicle maintenance functions.

The spacious and light cabin, with its panoramic glass sunroof and large windscreen, is optimised by the simplicity and effectiveness of the interior design. The front seats comprise just two parts: a comfortable, moulded, integral-skin foam part for the seat and a solid monoblock frame to hold the former in place and fix it to the floor rails.

Maximising the car’s green credentials, the C-Cactus uses a significant number of recycled or recyclable materials. The windscreen, windows and tyres are all recyclable, as are the steel door panels, that are unpainted but which have been treated for corrosion. The interior materials also reflect the innovative ecological direction of the C-Cactus’ design. Environmentally-friendly cork and felt are used for many parts and the patterned floor uses recycled leather taken from cut-offs.

Citroen REVOLTe concept is a compact city car

Citroen had unveiled the REVOLTe concept at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, Citroen REVOLTe is a compact city concept car that combines luxury with a touch of fun. it looks set to be a concept car hint of the next Citroen C2 supermini.

The Citroen REVOLTe concept has some features inspired from the DS3. Nevertheless, it features a new grille, small headlights and a lower front. Additionally, it comes with Michelin tires, but their size is yet to be disclosed. It is measuring in at 3.68 meters long, 1.73 meters wide and 1.35 meters tall and features a three seater cabin design.

The REVOLTe is powered by a rechargeable hybrid drivetrain that consists if a small displacement conventional combustion engine combined with an electric motor, with a battery supplying the electric motor with juice and both power plants able to drive the wheels.

Citroen DS2 will be the new compact hatch for 2012

Citroen DS2 is a new premium small car for of Citroen’s DS line-up, Citroen is a new compact hatch will be launched in 2012, The car which was dubbed as Citroen DS2 and it will be the entry point in the company’s new DS range.

Citroen DS2′s design will be inspired from the Citroen Revolte concept but will feature a more conventional grille, larger headlights and a narrower track. Citroen DS2 will come with the same rear-hinged doors that were also installed on the Revolte concept and other design elements are inspired from the legendary people’s car. There are more than a few 2CV-inspired features in its lines. As our renderings suggest, the more subtly-styled DS2 (certainly more subtle than the Revolte) could potentially embrace this heritage.

As for the concept, it is 3.68m long, 1.73m wide and 1.35m tall and is powered by a re-chargeable hybrid system that comprises both an electric unit and a small combustion engine. The new The DS2 will share its underpinning with Citroen’s all-new C3 model. The DS2 will be available with a range of three-cylinder gas engines, as well as Citroen’s 1.4L HDi diesel motor.It was equipped with rear-hinged doors, with the cabin boasting high-quality materials such as woven black leather.

To cut costs, the back-hinged rear doors will likely be replaced although the accordion-style convertible roof could potentially make it to production.
