Kia GT is a rear-wheel drive concept has been debuted at 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. It will lead to a new styling direction from the company that brought the car to Germany.

Kia GT is designed as a rear-wheel four-door, four-seater sports sedan concept. We certainly were very surprised by the look of the car at first, it features 184.6 inches long and 54.3 inches tall, the car’s low-slung stance and profile contribute to its sporty look.

Inside, it is less controversial, with beautiful organic forms, one-piece seats. The glass instrument panel continues this out-of-age look with three layers of organic LEDs, GT Concept’s cabin is also a picture of awesomeness. The instrument panel is also a picture of sophistication, floating above the muscular center console and further enhancing Kia’s intelligent use of space.

Kia GT Concept is powered by a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine, produces 390 horsepower and 394 lb/ft of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The GT Concept is also noted for being the first model to carry a rear-wheel drive set-up. It is equiped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Kia GT will make the jump from concept to production car is unclear, because Kia hasn’t traveled down this road before, which makes the excitement behind a production version of the concept understandable.

2012 Kia Picanto

2012 Kia Picanto which will have its world premiere at the 2011 Geneva International Motor Show.The 2012 Kia Picanto will go on display in Geneva on Tuesday, March 1 2011, before going on sale later in various European markets and in the UK.

The new 2012 Kia Picanto has been completely redesigned and re-engineered, offering more space.The 2012 Kia Picanto is longer and has a wider wheelbase than the current model, and will be available in five-door and three-door configurations.

Kia’s Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, said, “In profile, 2012 Kia Picanto features significant sculpting and a very prominent rising character line.The result is a layering of light and shadow and this breaks up the height, giving the car a more sure-footed stance.”

In addition to petrol engines, LPG bi-fuel and flex fuel variations will be available depending on market.The new Kia Picanto will feature four all-new powertrains in 1.0- and 1.2-litre displacements, all boasting class leading CO2 emissions levels.

The 2012 Kia Picanto price list and exact on sale date have not yet been announced.

Kia unveils KV7 concept ahead of Detroit Auto Show

Kia Motors America will reveal a concept crossover with gull-wing doors at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month.The Kia KV7 is one of many firsts at the Detroit Motor Show.

Kia has prepared a concept vehicle that combines a pair of attributes that are each rare in their own regard, let alone combined – a Ford Flex-like boxy body and a set of gullwing doors.So far, Kia has said virtually nothing about this new concept, aside from the fact that we can call it the KV7, and that we should expect a production vehicle to at some point bear a close resemblance to the concept.

Kia says it will fully reveal the KV7 at the 2011 North American International Auto Show, also known as the Detroit Auto Show, and that the Korean automaker expects this concept to “make another dramatic design statement with the world debut of an all-new, convention-challenging concept.”

2011 Kia Sorento

The 2010 KIA SUV Sorento has been reinvented in its second generation as a far more relevant, if slightly less macho, crossover. And not a moment too soon.

The chassis is shared with the Hyundai Santa Fe and has a strut-type suspension in front and a multilink design at the back. In place of the outgoing model’s wheezy 3.3- and 3.8-liter V-6s are a miserly 2.3-liter four-cylinder and a gutsy 3.5-liter V-6. All transmissions—a manual for base four-bangers and autos for the rest—have six forward speeds. Front-wheel drive replaces rear-wheel drive as the base drivetrain offering, and the optional four-wheel-drive system now employs an electronic locking differential.

The Kia’s steering is rather quick—3.0 turns lock-to-lock—and ensures there is little slop off-center, along with a spirited feel to things once the wheel is turned. It was raining heavily during our drive, so we didn’t push it. We did, however, find it easy to sense hydroplaning and equally easy to catch it with a flick of the wrist without giving the stability-control system fits.

The engine choices seem right for the times. The four-cylinder is nearly silent in operation off-throttle and remains smooth and vibration-free all the way to the redline. With all-wheel-drive versions, we found power to be reasonable. The optional 3.5-liter V-6 pumps out 273 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque and moves the Sorento along more briskly. But neither mill will set one’s heart ablaze.

Both engines come mated to a six-speed automatic that feels in character with either choice, if a bit slow. A six-speed manual is available on the el cheapo model, although it’s a configuration for which Kia expects few customers to opt. (Unfortunately, Kia had no examples of the manual available for us to experience.) The good news is that, should a buyer want to upgrade from the four-cylinder to the V-6, there is only a 1-to-2-mpg penalty for doing so. Get the V-6 if you can swing it.

Kia Pop Concept

Kia has released the first images of the Kia Pop Concept, which will be premiered at the Paris auto show on September 30th this year.

The only technical detail released about the new Kia Pop Concept is that it’s an all-electric vehicle that aims to challenge all conventions. The Kia Pop Concept is three-meter three-seater boasts zero-emissions and brings innovative design chic to the city car segment with its dramatic styling.

The Kia Pop Concept has a dynamic design and it’s aimed at city life, obviously. The exact details of the electric motor powering the new Kia Pop Concept will be revealed at the time of its premiere in France this fall. The Kia Pop Concept seems to have two seats at the front, which benefit from a bench rather than two separate seats, and one at the rear. The luggage area of the Kia Pop Concept is limited to the space remaining between the rear seat and the left side of the car.

The Kia Pop Concept is probably front-wheel-drive and from the looks of it, we bet it has an interesting door opening mechanism. We’ll have more details, images and probably a video of the Kia Pop Concept at the time of the Paris unveiling.

Kia Unveils Ray Plug-in Hybrid Concept

Kia Ray plug-in hybrid concept was shown at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, I had published one psot about it, but I didn’t got any photos and detials. Now I will show you the most photos and detials.

This 2010 Kia Ray Plug-in Hybrid Concept is based on the Kia Forte platform, introduces a lower profile of hybrid vehicles concept which is carried out in EcoDynamics philosophy of a curvaceous shape with innovative fuel-stretching and emissions-cutting technologies.

Kia Ray Plug-in Hybrid Concept is powered by an all-aluminum 153-horsepower Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) 1.4-litre engine it does make one horsepower more than the 1.6-liter in the Hyundai. The Ray also has a smaller 78 kilowatt electric motor compared to the 100 kilowatt unit in the earlier car. Moreover, the custom-designed low-rolling resistance tyres with a hexagon pattern in narrow 20-inch (195/50R20) construction also contribute to improve efficiency.

The Kia design team under Peter Schreyer has put a lot of emphasis on the aerodynamics of this concept, giving it a longer tail and, thanks to its four-inch lower roof, a smaller frontal area than the earlier Hyundai concept. The aero number will also benefit from narrower tires, with the Kia rolling on 195/50R20 tires compared to the 245/40R20 rubber on the Hyundai. The Ray rides on the same 106.3 inch wheelbase as the Hyundai Blue-Will PHEV concept but the overall length is four inches greater. The bottom line is that Kia claims 202.3 miles per gallon equivalent when driving in electric only mode and 77.6 mpg when running in hybrid mode. The 746-mile driving range will easily exceed all but the toughest bladders. According to Fedorak, “Hybrids are in Kia’s immediate future but I’m not sure about plans for PHEV.” A Forte hybrid was recently launched in Korea so that model is a possibility as is a hybrid version of the mid-sized Cadenza when it arrives in North America next year.

Kia Kee coupe concept is a compact, rear-driven, affordable production sports car, which is base on Hyundai recycled platform technology. it was first revealed at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Kia Kee features a broad stance and a low profile, the vehicle is a 4.3-metre long, four-seater, 2-door coupe with svelte. It is a new interpretation of a 2+2 coupe with an imposing road presence that demonstrates an uncluttered, pure and timeless execution and represents a new design ethos for Kia. Though, it is with three unique exterior elements – the strong and powerful frontal design with its distinctive headlamps and eye-catching LED cluster.

The Kia Kee is powered by a ‘next generation’ 2-litre, V-6 gasoline engine producing 200 200 horsepower, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. producing . it uses light-weight aluminium or plastic panels and components wherever possible in order to reduce weight and further improve performance.

Kia Ray Plug-in Hybrid Concept for 2010 Chicago Auto Show

According to Kia official, the Kia Ray concept car will be debuted at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show. It is a plug-in hybrid Concept car, with such a name it’ll probably be slathered in solar-electric cells and if it debuts to The Beatles “Here Comes The Sun.

Kia Ray concept was designed by the team of Kia’s American design studio, and they is intended to give some direction to the company’s idea for a plug-in hybrid vehicle. It is a preview of the direction Kia is considering for a future plug-in hybrid vehicle–one that appears to be stylish and sporty.

We’re guessing the Ray shares its plug-in hybrid underpinnings with the Hyundai Blue Will, which means a 1.6-liter direct-injection four-cylinder mated to an electric motor powered by a lithium polymer battery pack. Word is, these gubbins will also make their way into the 2011 Hyundai Sonata for a production plug-in hybrid with a Chevy Volt-rivaling electric only range of 40 miles.

The production version of the Kia Ray concept has not yet been programmed for production, The company also plans to sell Liquefied Petroleum Gas hybrid vehicles in Korea within the next 12 months.but the carmaker start testing petrol and diesel hybrid vehicles in Britain this year.

Kia Kue concept car

The Kia Kue concept car was designed by by Kia’s Design Center in Irvine, California. Because it’s a concept and not intended as a production vehicle, the Kue employs some unique and distinctive design features, including a single side door that opens scissors-style for easy access to both rows of custom bucket seats. Front-seat occupants access climate and audio systems via a touch pad and motion-sensing controls; rear-seat passengers get their own control interface.

The Kia Kue concept fitted with a 400-hp supercharged 4.6-liter V-8 engine. It drives all four wheels through a five-speed manumatic transmission. This is a new corporate Kia/Hyundai engine that will likely end up in Hyundai’s forthcoming rear-wheel-drive entry-luxury sedan. In keeping with its concept-car nature. The Kia Kue has a monocoque platform that sits on 22 inch wheels with a wheelbase of more than 114 inches, packaged in an overall length of 186 inches. Though purely a concept, the Kia Kue does hint at future styling directions for the company.

Kia KND-5 concept is also called the Kia VG. Kia KND-5 will be slotted between the Kia Optima and the Kia Amanti.

PRESS RELEASE:

The front of the car sports Kia’s family-look radiator grille which is based on a symbolic representation of a tiger’s roaring countenance. The 20-inch large-diameter alloy wheels enhance its aggressive yet refined image. KND-5 employs the same color for its body on the door handles and has a powerful, muscular profile. The panorama sunroof extends seamlessly from the front windshield to contribute to its open and sleek facade. The KND-5 measures 4,945mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,475mm high with a wheelbase of 2,845mm.

The concept car that will be on display in Seoul tomorrow carries a 277-hp 3.5L V6 Lambda engine under the hood.
