Maybach 62 is an ultra-luxury high-performance sedan, similars to the Maybach 57 with distinctive and self-assured design, includes two model: the regular 62 and the Maybach 62 S. The price is started about $423,500 – $463,000.

Maybach 62 is nearly identical to the Maybach 57, but its longer wheelbase provides more interior space for rear passengers. Changes for 2011 include a restyled exterior with new wheels and a boost in horsepower for the 62S. Maybach 62 is 6.17 meters in length, and it is an entirely new dimension in terms of luxury and comfort in the chauffeur-driven class.

Inside, Maybach 62 is the optional Business Package, which converts this ultraluxury sedan into a rolling executive suite. It includes a dual-port wireless Internet router, Bluetooth capability and a multipurpose rear storage area. A Bluetooth Canon printer integrated into the center console is also offered separately. Bose sound system with 21 speakers, rear audiovisual system with dual video monitors and DVD player.

The Maybach 62 base model is equipped with a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, output 543 horsepower and 664 lb.-ft. of torque. The S model is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, produces 620 horsepower and 738 lb.-ft. of torque. The standard equipment includes electronically controlled air suspension with variable ride height, stability control with traction control, new 19-inch alloy wheels. Maybach is claimed to still be able to accelerate to highway speeds from a standstill in 5.7 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

The S model trim features monotone paint, carbon fiber and piano black interior trim and new 20-inch alloy wheels. Options include three-place rear seating, ventilated front and rear seats, electro-transparent rear roof section, solar module for cabin ventilation system, and customer-specified paint schemes and interior materials.

2012 Maybach 57 S Edition 125!

Maybach released the 2012 Maybach 57 S Edition 125! in the year of the 125th anniversary at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. This is exhibiting a special one-off model of luxury brand.

2012 Maybach 57 S Edition 125! was created to show the possibilities for designing a truly personal, high-end saloon, and introduces a number of mid-life upgrades to the historic manufacturer’s flagship luxury range. This high-end luxury saloon displays many familiar and new individualization options which only Maybach customers can select.

The new features of the Maybach 57 S include Wilheim Maybach signature embroidering on the glove compartment lid, silver top-stitching, silver carbon fibre/piano black lacquer trim, matt black 20-inch alloy wheels and a restyled front radiator grille.

The 2012 Maybach 57 S Edition 125! is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, procudes up 13kW to 463kW and 1000Nm of torque, and combined cycle fuel consumption down from 16.4 litres/100km to 15.8 litres/100km. Power figures of the 405kW/900Nm 5.5-litre twin-turbo V12 remain unchanged, although fuel economy improves from 15.9 litres/100km to 15.0 litres/100km.

Mercedes Benz will unveil a new concept vehicle at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, which is Mercedes Benz F125 Hydrogen Gullwing Concept.

Mercedes Benz F125 Hydrogen Gullwing Concept obviously pays tribute to the 125th anniversary of Benz Brand, but it also showcases new design elements we will be seeing in future production cars of the Brand.

Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped the details and pictures of 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster.

The all new two-seater surper soports is the second car to be developed independently by AMG. It costs 3 year development period, Roadster version of the aluminum-intensive SLS AMG weighs just 88 pounds more than the gullwing Coupe. And it also is fitted with a curved strut between the soft top and the tank that reinforces the rear axle.

2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster caught completely undisguised while testing, and will be debuted at 2011 New York Auto Show, according to the official it will go on sale shortly thereafter as a 2012 model.

As these latest spy shots clearly reveal, a soft-top roof like the one seen on the previous SLR Roadster has been picked. This will allow the car to be as light as possible, keeping it nimble around corners and quick on the straights. It hard-top tips the scales at 3,571 pounds, it’s likely the Roadster variant will be nudging the 3,800 pounds mark or possibly even more.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster will be fitted with a new 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, which develops up to 571 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, there’s chance the new SLS AMG Roadster may pick up this option. So the SLS from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4.0 seconds, and onward to a top speed of nearly 200 mph.

Mercedes-Benz will also add an all-electric version of the car, which you can read about by clicking here. And hopefully there will also be an extreme AMG Black Series edition to really give the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini a scare. The SLS Roadster will likely weigh slightly more than the coupe, due to necessary structural reinforcements and the extra pounds from the convertible top itself. Yet performance should be only fractionally off the figures posted by the SLS coupe.

The price of the SLS AMG Coupe ringing in at $185,000, we expect the sticker of the SLS Roadster to be in the region of $200,000.

The Mercedes-Benz Concept A-Class is a stylized version of the upcoming two-door family vehicle, it looks like Mercedes-Benz Concept B-class, but might show the direction the front-wheel drive platform is headed-one that will appeal to a more youthful and enthusiastic buyer.

Mercedes is relying on the fresh design with its more technical highlights, include a new, turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, a dual clutch transmission and a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist. As part of a major shift, the A-class also adopts the heavily sculptured surfacing treatment and other elements seen on a batch of recent Mercedes concepts.

The exterior features the combination of defined edges and free interplay with the body surfaces. The front end of the Concept A-Class is a real eye-catcher. The side view is structured by three prominent lines. A very special effect is created by the lights of the Concept A-Class, as the innovative full-LED high-performance headlamps repeat the starry sky motif with numerous lighting points.

Mercedes-Benz Concept A-Class will be equited with a 2.0-liter variant of Mercedes’ four-cylinder M270 gasoline engine. It’s modified to sit transversely in the engine bay, as opposed to the longitudinal mounting of other Mercedes models. The turbocharged unit is claimed to deliver 210 hp–the same power rating as European versions of the turbocharged 2.0-liter Volkswagen Golf GTi.

2011 Mercedes-Benz B55 Concept

Trainees of Mercedes-Benzs Rastatt plant in Germany turned a B200 CDI diesel model into a full-blown sports car by planting in a 388 hp 5.5-liter V8 and transferring the drive from the front axle to the rear, called B55.

Peter Wesp is plant manager make this idea of the project and execution fell on the shoulders of foremen Andreas Würz and Matt Rieger and a team of twelve second and third-year trainees specializing in production mechanics and automotive mechatronics.

In interior of Mercedes-Benz B55 was upgraded with sport seats and steering wheel, Alcantara linings and other, more luxurious materials.The B55 runs on 18-inch AMG alloys with 235/50 front and 255/35 rear tires shod.The final performance is a suspension of K & W includes sources.The rear axle has been obtained from a W210 E-Class and the brakes were adapted to the C32 AMG parts catalog.

2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG

German car fans were expecting to see the updated C63 AMG this March, at the Geneva Motor Show, but photos leaked this week of the new sedan and wagon, providing a peek at what lays ahead for the upcoming C series rocket.

Under the hood, the biggest difference is that top speed will no longer be limited to 155 mph; the 2012 C63 AMG, with the performance Development Package, will top out at 174 mph.AMG has developed a new 5.5-liter biturbo mill, but the C63 keeps 6.2-liter V8, so output remains at 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.

The C63 now sends power to a seven-speed Speedshift MCT auto ‘box which swaps out the conventional torque converter for a high-performance clutch pack said to deliver smoother, more immediate shifts.

The main exterior changes are to the fascia; the C63 AMG gets SL series-inspired headlamps, with Audi-esque LED light-piping.LEDs also make their way to the tail lamps, and the team also re-designed the 18-inch wheels, with red brake calipers grabbing the 14.2-inch front discs.Inside, a new dash and LCD screen dominate the conversation, though a new three-spoke tiller is also part of the package.

After the C63′s big day in Geneva, the revised C-Class will go on sale this fall, with the AMG-fettled version getting a very slight bump in price.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class Coupe & Crossover

Mercedes-Benz B-Class Coupe & Crossover has been confirmed recently, it based on the MFA platform. In addition to potential A-Class and B-Class interiors being shown.

The coupe is a relative term as the model is expected to be a “four-door coupe” in the same vein as the CLS. Regardless, the car is scheduled to be launched in 2013 and will likely resemble the F800 Style concept which debuted at last year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Additional information is scarce, but engine options are rumored to include a 204 PS (150 kW / 201 hp) 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol and a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel with 170 PS (125 kW / 168 hp). Besides the coupe and crossover, a third variant – possibly a convertible or shooting brake – will be offered in Europe but a decision on U.S. availability is still pending. Furthermore, if you’re not a fan of the tri-pointed star, Infiniti is also interested in using the MFA platform but nothing has been finalized as of yet.

Exclusive to Canada, and limited to just 30 units, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition was designed in the AMG Performance Centre in Affalterbach, Germany.The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition is finished in highly distinctive designo MAGNO Allanite Grey paintwork, and its unique appearance is further distinguished by high-performance AMG brakes with red calipers, 19″ AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels in black, carbon-fibre mirror housings and a rear lip spoiler.

Interior, Mercedes will place an Affalterbach logo on both the gearshift lever and the headrests, and the sports seats will be covered in black AMG Nappa leather contrasting with red stitching.

The C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition is powered by the hand-built, 6.2 L V8 engine that offers 481 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, which propels it from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.4 seconds.

The list of standard equipment will include: a rear view camera, PARKTRONIC, COMAND APS with HDD Navigation and DVD Changer, multi-media interface, rear window sunshade, harman/kardon LOGIC7 surround sound system, and KEYLESS-GO.

Available in spring 2011, the Mercedes-Benz C63 Affalterbach Edition will be priced from $81,500.

After quite a long time now, and many teaser images, Mercedes has finally dropped the official details on the 2012 Mercedes SLK Roadster.The model gets a totally new design, inspired by the legendary 190 SL from the 1950s, an innovative interior with features like Magic Sky Control.

The completely redesigned V6 engine in the SLK350 develops 302 hp from its 3498 cubic-centimeter displacement, using this power to accelerate in 5.4 (est.) seconds from 0 to 60 mph (top speed 155 mph).Its fuel Later on in the model year, the SLK250 goes on-sale with a four-cylinder engine developing 201 hp from a displacement of 1796 cubic centimeters.There will be two models of the 2012 SLK available in its first year, both powered by direct-injection engines.

The 2011 CL63 AMG will be swapping out its 6.2-liter V8 for the automaker’s new 5.5-liter bi-turbo unit.Standard power is 536 horsepower and 590 lb-ft.of torque, but those seeking even more from their ultra-luxury sports coupe will want to option up to the AMG Performance Package.Power in that configuration is up to 563 horsepower, while torque tops out a stump-pulling 664 lb-ft.Regardless of performance level, the 5.5-liter V8 is mated to a seven-speed SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7 automatic transmission with three driving modes and a rev-matching function.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG is more comfortable than your living room.Driver and front passenger are absorbed into standard 14-way electronically adjustable AMG sport seats with heat, ventilation and memory.Our test car was fitted with the optional “active multicontour seats” that include massage and drive dynamic functions (air bladders actively inflate to hold occupants in place during cornering).

6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine in the Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG is one of the most powerful series production engines ever built.The twelve-cylinder engine produces 463 kW (630 hp) from a displacement of 5980 cc, and a maximum torque of 1000 Nm which remains constant between 2300 and 4300 rpm.The torque has been electronically limited to 1000 Nm from a possible 1200 Nm, to make allowances for the powertrain.Power transfer is handled by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission, which has three different drive modes.The CL65 AMG accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The NEDC-combined fuel consumption of the Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG is now 14.3 litres per 100 kilometres, which equates to a reduction of 0.2 litre per 100 km.The CO2 emissions of 334 grams per kilometre are 3.5 percent lower than those of the previous model (346 g/km).

The new Direct-Steer system with speed-sensitive power steering guarantees high levels of manoeuvrability and smooth control in all driving situations.Reliable deceleration performance comes courtesy of the AMG high-performance braking system based on the ADAPTIVE BRAKE system.Internally ventilated, perforated composite brake discs all round, with a diameter of 390 and 365 millimetres respectively, are combined with double floating brake callipers (front) and sliding frame-type callipers (rear) for maximum deceleration.

Mercedes-Benz will unveil its face-lifted 2012 C-Class sedan next month at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show and will begin shipping cars to US dealers next summer.

Along with the new engines,The C250 is powered by a new twin-turbocharged, direct-injection four-cylinder engine delivering 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque.The C300 4Matic features a 228-hp V6 with 221 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel drive.The C350 gets a new direct-injection V6 with 302 hp and 273 lb-ft.

New, modern wheels complete the exterior revisions.Changes to the exterior of the car are extremely minor, limited almost entirely to the front and rear fascias.The front fascia receives a new headlight treatment, with a two-tiered design nearly identical to those seen on the new CL.The grille is slightly reshaped as are the lower air intakes, the fenders flares look to have been reduced, and the rear bumper is slightly lower.

New, classy trim accents complete the changes to the 2012 C-Class’ interior.The big news though is that the navigation unit is no longer a pop-up unit, but is rather built right into the dash and nestled under a sun-shielding hood.The same aluminum-look is used for new, 3-D surrounds on the instrument cluster rather than the simple, 2-D surrounds on the outgoing car.The steering wheel and its controls have also been updated, and dare we say it, actually look like a more upscale version of those found on a 2011 Volkswagen GTI.

As for powertrains, details on the US-spec car have yet to be released, but expect very few changes apart from direct-injection for the basic C-Class models.The outrageous C63 AMG however , is likely to get Mercedes’ new twin-turbocharged, direct-injected, 5.5-liter V-8 that’s currently finding its way into all “-63” badged AMG models.We’ll know exact US-powertrain specifications shortly.

Mercedes-Benz will debut Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept at 2010 Los Angeles auto show. Which is a safe and comfortable 2+2 compact car that comes with excellent handling and cutting-edge design.

This concept was created at Mercedes-Benz’s advanced design studio in Carlsbad, California, the sleek four-seater hails from the fertile mind of studio head Hubert Lee–the man behind the aggressive new look of the second-generation CLS unveiled at the Paris motor show and the F700 Style concept car wheeled out at this year’s Geneva motor show.

Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept is Mercedes-Benz’s latest concept, it is a full-sized model, will be revealed to the public for the first time at the prize-giving ceremony for the Los Angeles Design Challenge, the competition for which it was originally conceived but which the German carmaker ultimately decided to instead enter two other concepts, the Smart 454 Weight Watch Technology from its Sindelfingen-based studio in Germany.

The Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept symbiosis vehicle is made from an ultralight material called BioFibre and tips the scales at just 875.5 lbs (around 394 kg). This material is significantly lighter than metal or plastic, yet more robust than steel. BioFibre is grown from proprietary DNA in the Mercedes-Benz nursery, where it collects energy from the sun and stores it in a liquid chemical bond called BioNectar4534. As part of this process, the vehicle is created from two seeds: The interior of the BIOME grows from the DNA in the Mercedes star on the front of the vehicle, while the exterior grows from the star on the rear. To accommodate specific customer requirements, the Mercedes star is genetically engineered in each case, and the vehicle “grows” when the genetic code is combined with the seed capsule. The wheels are grown from four separate seeds.

The Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept is powered by BioNectar4534, which is stored in the BioFibre material of the chassis, interior, and wheels. In addition, Mercedes-Benz has developed a technology to equip trees with special receptors which can collect the excess solar energy and turn it into BioNectar4534. This creates a direct link with nature’s energy sources and acts as an incentive to cover mobility energy requirements through more trees and at the same time maintain natural resources. Like plants, the Mercedes-Benz symbiosis vehicle also produces oxygen, thereby contributing to improving air quality. At the end of its service life, the Mercedes-Benz BIOME can be fully composted or used as building material. Thanks to the exclusive use of green technologies, the BIOME vehicle thus blends seamlessly into the ecosystem.

2011 Mercedes-Benz C-Class a new entry-level four-door sedan. It is the best selling Mercedes-Benz mode. 2011 C-Class lineup features four models – the 451-hp C63 AMG, the 268-hp C350 Sport and the 228-hp C300 Luxury and C300 Sport.

2011 Mercedes-Benz C-Class features both the C-Class’ new nose and a newbody. The 2011 C-Class’ new rear end, which is shared with the Coupe. In fact, the only major difference we can see between the new Coupe and Sedan is between the B- and C -pillars, where the Coupe obviously has no second row of doors, both Sport models are now equipped with LED daytime running lights and black inlays around the headlights, and all C-Class models come with new headlight control switches and ESP controls relocated to the instrument cluster.

Luxury models wear the iconic three-pointed star perched on top of the front hood, the C-Class Sport can be identified by a bold star in the front grille – usually reserved for its coupes and convertibles. Sport models also come with standard AMG styling, including deeper front and rear aprons as well as sculpted rocker panels.

The Sport features staggered-width, five-spoke 17-inch wheels; sport shocks; springs and stabilizer bars that provide a crisper ride and more than a half-inch lower ride height. Instead of the Luxury model’s traditional four-spoke wheel and burl walnut trim, Sport models come with three-spoke steering wheels and a choice of aluminum, burl walnut or black birds eye maple interior trim. The C300 Sport features a slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission.

All C-Class models boast Agility Control, which provides the benefits of both soft and stiff shock absorbers. Each twin-tube shock absorber is fitted with a hydraulic by-pass piston that acts like a very soft shock absorber to effectively dampen road noise and tire vibration. However, over bumpy or uneven roads, the by-pass piston is out of the picture, which preserves the outstanding steering and handling response of a stiffer shock absorber.

2011 models would carryover the 2010 model’s 225-horsepower 3.0-liter V-6, 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 and 451-horsepower V-8 in the AMG model, all of which will likely carryover to the Coupe.

Mercedes-Benz wouldn’t be complete without an AMG version to spice things up a bit? Not this one, as a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 is likely on the menu along with the expected suspension and braking upgrades.

Mercedes has unveiled Mercedes Concept 358 at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show. It was developed by Mercedes-Benz Australia.

The Mercedes Concept 358 is based on the C63 AMG and is the only C63 to come with the designo Pearl Orange paint. And It is based off Mercedes-Benz’s C63 AMG platform, sporting an AMG Performance Package Plus that gives it the extra 23-hp.

Mercedes Concept 358 is powered by 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 engine to produce 358 kW (480 hp / 487 PS) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to the added power, the car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

The outside’s pearl orange paint (exclusive to the Concept 358) is contrasted with a set of black 19-inch wheels, matte black grille and mirrors.

The 2011 Maybach facelift will have its public premiere at the Beijing auto show this year. The 2011 Maybach facelift will have only updated visuals, under the skin remaining the same car as the current version. However, the engine of the 2011 Maybach facelift will be modified to comply with the Euro V emissions standards. This means it will be more economical and will emit less CO2.

The electric drive of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class E-CELL is a permanent-field synchronous unit developing a peak output of 70 kW (95 hp), a continuous power rating of 50 kW (68 hp) and a high maximum torque of 290 Nm, as expected for an electric drive, available right from the first revolution. This makes the A-Class E-CELL an outstandingly assured and dynamic performer on the road, taking just 5.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60 km/h. A kick-down function is used to deliver maximum acceleration, according to the current charge level and battery temperature. Maximum speed is electronically set at 150 km/h.

The energy storage units are two high-performance lithium-ion batteries based on high-voltage technology. The advantages of lithium-ion batteries include their compact dimensions and significantly higher efficiency in comparison with nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries. They offer 30 percent more energy density than NiMH technology, and 50 percent more power density. Other benefits include high charging efficiency and a long service life. The combined energy capacity of the two lithium-ion batteries is a total of 36 kWh. With fully charged batteries, the Mercedes A-Class E-CELL has a range of over 200 kilometres (NEDC).

The batteries of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class E-CELL can be either replenished at public charging points or plugged into an ordinary household power socket. A range of charging options are available, including single-phase 230-volt sockets, three-phase sockets in a household wall-box, and public recharging points. Using a single-phase 230-volt network, it takes around eight hours’ charging time to accumulate the energy required for a range of 100 km (NEDC). This time is reduced to just three hours in the case of charging from a wall-box or at a roadside recharging point.

The new A-Class E-CELL also has plenty to offer in terms of Mercedes-quality equipment. Standard highlights in the premium quality “AVANTGARDE” version of this innovative electric car include bi-xenon headlamps, COMAND APS, an active park assist for automatic parking and the THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control system. A special additional function is the ability to preset the interior climate during charging, i.e. raising or lowering the compartment temperature according to the weather conditions. The car also has a comprehensive range of safety features, including rear window bags and sidebags, and sophisticated seating and lighting packages.

Mercedes-Benz applies the same high safety standards in the A-Class E-CELL as in all its other series-produced vehicles. The electric drive system has demonstrated readiness for series production in extensive practical testing programs. Key components have also been proven in Mercedes-Benz fuel-cell vehicles, for example, allowing Mercedes engineers to draw on the experience gained from more than 4.5 million test kilometres in everyday use. The integrated safety concept reflects the specific characteristics of the vehicle’s innovative drive system. The lithium-ion batteries and high-voltage system of the A-Class E-CELL are protected with a comprehensive safety concept.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class was unveiled to the public later at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, it is a significant update of the automaker’s original four-door coupe.

We can easily see the automaker’s Bentley-esque rear “hips” that take the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan’s look to a whole new level. A much flashier pair of tailights are easy to see as well. Up front Mercedes-Benz opted for full LED headlamps, the world’s first to offer the full range of turn signals, running lamps, low and high-beam functions purely from LEDs.

Inside, the 2012 model of Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class gains a more wrap-around-style dashboard with more innovative and upscale materials before. Matte galvanized trim surrounds the air vents, while hand-sewn leather wraps the dashboard.

Motivation for this new CLS is expected to come from a wide range of gas and diesel motors, as well as a BlueHybrid model that will use the same hybrid system as the S400 BlueHybrid. The Mercedes-Benz’s SLK Roadster third generation 2012 model is still under extensive development, I had search some spy shots to offer, and with no camouflage on the prototypes. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK based on the new C-class platform, this up-coming SLK is due to go on sale next summer.

The interior of 2012 model is also reminiscent of the AMG, with the instrument cluster layout with two large gauges and the center console featuring twin air-vents with cruciform-style nozzles.More tweaks are sure to follow so this is far from a final design.

2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK will probably feature a few trims, from the 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pushing out some 200-ponies and to the brand new 3.5 liter direct-injection V6 306 hp beauty seen on the CLS Shooting Brake Concept.

We’ll probably be seeing more of the car, in quality photos and with some official specs at motor shows in Detroit in January 2011 or Geneva in March 2011. Enjoy these nice spy shots of the undisguised Mercedes SLK 2012 till then.

Mercedes has released official pictures of the next-gen Mercedes-benz CLS-class, due in 2011 as a 2012 model. Due to the second-gen CLS, it is a four-door coupe that started a segment.

2012 Mercedes-benz CLS-class’s exterior remains instantly recognizable as the CLS profileis clearly Germanic, with flared rear wheel arches and squared-off corners. The headlights, which are now completely made up of LEDs, morph from the previous generation’s amoeba-shaped units to a blocky design. It is designed with a separately formed grille, larger air inlets, and no fewer than 71 LEDs in the all-new full-LED headlights.

The interior is also significantly upgraded, notably ditching dash-mounted COMAND controls for the more intuitive console-mounted knob. It gets a wraparound dashboard, The gearshift moves from the center console to the column, like on the S-class and other Benzes, making the cockpit more spacious. An unusual and charming feature from the first CLS, the matte-finish wood on the dash, will no longer be available. It’s replaced by optional high-gloss wood, piano black lacquer, or carbon fiber (seen in the accompanying pics). Overall, the interior still appears stylish and avant-garde—especially compared to an E-class—but based on the pictures, the intimate and warm atmosphere from the previous generation does not carry through.

2012 Mercedes-benz CLS-class will powered by an V-6 gas and diesel engines, the North American CLS will be 4.7-liter V-8 engine only. The standard car will still be called the CLS550, but the old car’s 382-hp, 5.5-liter engine is replaced with Benz’s new twin-turbo, 4.6-liter V-8, which churns up 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. There will, of course, be an AMG version of the new CLS. It, too, will retain the first generation’s nomenclature—CLS63—but it receives the new corporate AMG engine. Another twin-turbo V-8, the AMG mill displaces 5.5 liters and cranks out as much as 563 hp and 664 lb-ft in the new S63 AMG.

For 2010, the big-boy CLS63 ran $98,825, while the CLS550 clocked in at $73,275. When it goes on sale in mid-2011 as a 2012 model, the 429-hp CLS550 might be the most expensive.
