Toyota FT-86 Concept is an entirely driver-oriented, rear-wheel-drive sports concept. A production version is will be on sale in 2011.

The FT-86’s exterior design is sourced from Toyota Europe Design in France, two other prototypes also exist, one penned by head office in Toyota City and the other created by Calty Design Research in California. It gets eye-catching looks, four passenger FT-86 ended up being 4,160 mm long, 1,760 mm wide and 1,260 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,570 mm. Toyota’s design team has also included quite a few sporting touches to the concept’s interior; starting off with a flat bottom steering wheel, aluminum pedals and red stitching to accent the leather wrapped steering wheel and parking brake lever.

The Toyota FT-86 concept powered by a front engine, which is a free-revving, 2.0 litre petrol engine, a 6-speed manual transmission with compact dimensions, light weight and a low centre of gravity for the best possible driving experience, naturally aspirated four cylinder gasoline burning engine supplied by Subaru. In its non boosted form, the flat four make a maximum output of 150 HP.

Toyota FT-86 concept gets a family-style. The inside I like a lot, with a unique control area that is canted toward the driver. Hopefully we’ll see some of this design in the production car. It is Toyota’s aim to get a younger demographic to the brand.
