Volkswagen NMS is New Midsize Sedan, the final design has already been approved, previewed previously in an official sketch, and now first spy shots has been relesed. The official also announced that the production version of the Volkswagen NMS will go on sale in the third quarter of 2011.

Volkswagen NMS will be produced at the Chattanooga plant in Tennessee. No technical details of the Volkswagen NMS have been released yet, however, judging from the new renderings, we can find out a few things about its design. This mid-size sedan will be bigger than the Passat but priced to start around $20,000 so that it can compete better with top-sellers like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

The Volkswagen NMS will have strong hood lines and will feature the brand’s new “face”. The side of the Volkswagen NMS will feature a broad C-pillar and strong shoulder line and three window segments. The new model will also have uniquely styled headlamps and tail lights. Volkswagen is also expected to have high design goals for the NMS, including a wide range of standard safety and multimedia equipment, sporty performance, and fundamentally useful equipment like ample cupholders and roomy seating.

We can safely assume that the 2.5-liter I5 will sit in base models with the 2.0T acting as a range-topper to combat the V6 offerings of Honda and Toyota. It would appear that we’d best get used to what we see above. Odds are this machine is going to be a bigger, less-expensive replacement for long-serving VW four-door.
